Unless otherwise provided, Afton Scientific typically pays full-time employees for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day January 1st
Memorial Day Last Monday in May
Independence Day July 4th
Labor Day First Monday in September
Thanksgiving Day Fourth Thursday in November
Day after Thanksgiving Day Fourth Friday in November
Christmas Day December 25th
Afton may alter paid holidays per calendar year as required to meet production schedules.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
Unless otherwise provided, Paid Time Off under this policy may be used for instances such as vacation, illness, bereavement time, or other personal business. Paid time off can be taken in full-day or half-day increments. Employees request paid time off by completing a Request for Leave from and submitting it to an immediate supervisor for approval. Requests are evaluated based on various factors, including anticipated operating requirements and staffing considerations., Your pay rate for the time off is based on your pay rate in effect when your vacation is used and does not include bonuses or other special forms of compensation.
Afton Scientific offers medical, short- and long-term disability and life insurance to all eligible employees. Insurance benefits are eligible only to full-time employees and begin on the first of the month following 3 months of employment.* Afton will provide eligible employees booklets that describe employee coverage in detail and should be relied upon for decisions. A copy of the booklet will also be kept in the Human Resources office.
All insurance benefits are subject to change at any time at Afton Scientific’s discretion.
Workforce training and continuing education for staff is a priority at Afton Scientific. Our staff is ambitious and bright. To capitalize on this energy, Afton will provide partial reimbursement for approved education.
To qualify, classes or programs must be of a technical nature, or in an area of interest that directly benefits Afton.
